Biography
Robert Homen (born 7 June 1972 in Kotor, Montenegro) is a distinguished Croatian conductor. He began his music studies in Sarajevo, winning several national prizes as a young pianist, and graduated in conducting from the Academy of Music in Zagreb in 1997.
He started his professional career as a répétiteur at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, becoming chorus master in 1997 and permanent opera conductor in 2005. His repertoire spans Croatian operas such as Ero the Joker, Mila Gojsalića, and Nikola Šubić Zrinjski, as well as international works by Verdi, Bizet, Bellini, and Leoncavallo.
Homen has collaborated with leading orchestras and opera houses in Croatia and abroad, including the Zagreb Philharmonic, Dubrovnik Symphony, Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, and Teatro Verdi in Trieste. He regularly works with renowned soloists, such as Maxim Fedotov, Stjepan Hauser, Luis Chapa, Maksim Mrvica, and Željko Lučić.
Since 1997, he has led the Academic Choir “Palma” in Zagreb, earning multiple national and international awards. From 2004, he has also directed the “Lira” Choir of the Jewish Community of Zagreb, performing across Europe, Israel, Australia, and the United States.
Homen has received numerous honors, including the Rector’s Award for outstanding artistic achievements. He teaches at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, gives masterclasses internationally, and serves on juries at major vocal and orchestral competitions.
